What to we consume that's actually poison?
Sugar, alcohol and food additives (colouring, preservatives, pesticides, other chemicals) are harmful to the body.
They're poisons, disrupting the body's natural processes and leading to widespread damage across many systems, including the gut, brain, skin and metabolic health.
Here are some examples.
Sugar
Metabolism: Leads to weight gain, insulin resistance, fat storage, fatty liver, increased risk of type 2 diabetes and cardiovascular disease
Gut: Disrupts the gut microbiome by feeding harmful bacteria and yeast, leading to dysbiosis, inflammation including in the brain (lined to anxiety, depression), compromised gut integrity
Brain: Triggers dopamine release, creating addictive behaviours and contributing to mood swings, anxiety and cognitive decline
Alcohol
General: Is a toxin that can damage the liver, impair immune function and increase the risk of certain cancers, including breast
Gut: Irritates the gut lining, increases intestinal permeability and disrupts the balance of gut bacteria, leading to inflammation and digestive issues
Brain: Impairs cognitive function, disrupts neurotransmitter balance and can lead to long-term brain damage with chronic use
Food Additives
General: Are linked to allergies, asthma and other health issues. Pesticides and herbicides can accumulate, leading to toxicity and increased cancer risk
Metabolism: Some preservatives and additives can interfere with hormone regulation, contributing to metabolic disorders and obesity
Gut: Can damage the gut lining, alter the gut microbiome and promote inflammation, leading to digestive disorders and chronic diseases
Brain: Can cross the blood-brain barrier affecting function, mood and cognition. Can also disrupt neurological processes, contributing to neurodegenerative diseases
I have many blogs about these topics on this website.
