The 12 root causes of weight loss resistance
I've identified 12 root causes for why menopausal (and other) women struggle to lose weight.
Many of these are about the health of your body, not your level of willpower!
The trick is to find which one or ones are impacting you. That way you can resolve them so that healthy weight loss can finally happen!
How do you do this?
In may practice I use functional testing, questionnaires and experience (including my own). This includes functional testing like blood chemistry, hormone, thyroid and gut testing.
When you get to the underlying cause of your weight-loss resistance, the weight you lose won't return. Ever!
These are the causes, and they can be BIG yet SIMPLE to resolve. It IS possible
Hormonal imbalances - sex and thyroid
Toxicity - especially in the liver, but also heavy metals and more
Metabolic challenges - blood sugar (hypo/hyper), insulin resistance, T2 diabetes
Gut imbalances - infections, inflammation, poor nutrient breakdown and absorption
Inadequate or poor quality sleep - causes many imbalances and insatiable hunger
Stress - overrides many of the body's normal functions, prevents balance and healing
Dietary imbalances - in proteins, fats, good carbs, especially a lack of well-sourced protein and good fats
Eating too much sugar, refined carbs, alcohol, diary, gluten (our 'addictions')
Overeating - this can have physical causes like gut and nutrient imbalances, nutrient shortages, imbalanced macronutrients
Muscle loss - this commonly happens with ageing
Lack of movement and the right variety - weights, cardio, HIIT, but not overdoing it
Inflammation - can be due to diet, stress, chronic disease
