The benefits of cold versus hot showers
I swim in the ocean all year round, and every time I shower I finish off with a 1-minute cold blast π¦π
Both of these activities make me feel amazing (and look about 5 years younger for a day π).
Hot and cold showers each have benefits, and alternating between the two makes your body adapt to new temperatures. This helps build resilience in your body, including in your nervous system π₯βοΈ
Why do we need two be resilient? πͺπ
So that we become more adaptable, handle stress better and resist disease π
If you're interested in building up a cold shower habit you can begin slowly with 5 or 10 seconds, until you get to a minute. Remember, some is better than none.
