Still bloated from fibre, even though you're doing everything right?
You’re hydrated. You’ve added fibre gradually. You’re taking enzymes. You’ve chosen 'gut-friendly' sources of fibre. I've discussed all of this in other posts.
But you still react with bloating.
That’s because not all fibre-bloating is about water intake or sudden diet changes. Sometimes it’s about how your microbiome processes fibre, where in the gut it ferments, and how your immune system and nerves respond.
For some, fibre feeds gas-producing microbes, triggers immune activation in the gut lining, or even overstimulates sensitive nerve pathways — creating distension and discomfort even with a “perfect” fibre plan.
If this sounds familiar, it’s worth looking beyond the basics — at microbiome balance, small intestine health, and immune reactivity — so you can keep the benefits of fibre without the bloat.
